Hello my name is Alex Wu and I’m a physiotherapy assistant.

Who is Alex?

  • The Beginning

As an active kid growing up, I enjoyed playing and competing in a variety of sports. A pivotal moment in my life occurred when I decided to take a strength and conditioning course in high school. I was fascinated with the human body and the amazing ways it can move and adapt to new challenges. I would find myself reviewing musculoskeletal anatomy after school to learn and develop new exercises to try out in the gym. My passion for anatomy and fitness drove me to pursue the Kinesiology program at McMaster University where I received an Honours Bachelors of Science degree.

  • The Journey

During my time at McMaster, I have had the opportunity to shadow several physiotherapists who worked with individuals across the lifespan, including children with developmental disabilities, athletes, and seniors. I was touched by the positive impact that physical activity had on improving quality of life and the diverse scope that physiotherapists can have to help people. From there, I received my Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. During my time in the program, I have had the pleasure of helping patients and athletes in hospitals and rehabilitation clinics to stay active and achieve their goals. My approach to treatment involves a combination of education, manual therapy, and progressive exercise prescription that is tailored to your unique injury or condition.

  • The Core Value

Life-long learning is a core value that I resonate with. I am always looking for new opportunities to improve my professional skills and knowledge to provide the most effective and up-to-date care possible. In addition, I prioritize taking the time to learn about your history, interests, and concerns in order to develop a holistic perspective that will guide our assessment, treatment, and goal setting. I will also encourage and support you to learn more about your injury or condition such that you have the tools and knowledge to feel empowered to make informed decisions regarding your treatment.

Special Interests

I like to stay active by weight training, running, and playing basketball and Ultimate Frisbee. In my free time, you’ll find me at a concert, trying new restaurants, gaming, or taking pictures of my cat.
