Hello my name is Dr. Emily Kawaguchi and I am a chiropractor and use acupuncture in North York

Who is Dr. Emily?

  • The Beginning

I went from playing competitive volleyball in the OVA for 6 years to playing on the women’s varsity volleyball team at the University of Toronto (UofT). I also had the honour of being on Team Ontario Beach for many years and representing Canada twice at U19 and U21 beach volleyball world championships. At the end of my undergraduate career, I also had the opportunity to be on the UofT track and field team competing in high jump. All these ventures lead to many injuries from ankles to concussions, leading me to constantly be seeing various manual practitioners. These frequent visits captivated me every time with how each practitioner was came to a diagnosis and come up with a comprehensive treatment plan.

  • The Schooling

Knowing I was interested in how the body moves and works, I entered the Bachelors of Kinesiology program at the UofT. Wanting to continue my education in the same field, I completed the Master of Professional Kinesiology program back at UofT with a focus on youth concussions. During this program I had the opportunity to learn more about the chiropractic scope of practice and saw that it was a perfect profession to utilize my exercise and biomechanics knowledge. I then continued my long education journey at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College earning my Doctor of Chiropractic.

  • The Now + Future

As someone who never wants to stop learning, I have completed my contemporary acupuncture certificate at McMaster University. I look forward to taking many more courses to continue learning different ways to help my patients thrive. It is my goal to help patients get back to their normal activities and more, even stronger than before. When I’m not in clinic you can find me outside hiking or paddle boarding in the summer and finding new food spots in the winter.
