Hello my name is Slava Kozlov and I am a physiotherapist and personal trainer

Who is Slava?

  • My Passion

As early as I can remember, I have been fascinated with movement. My passion began as an outlet to relieve restlessness and quickly developed into an eagerness to master new activities. Throughout my adolescence, I was involved with competitive dance, tennis, swimming, and water polo. However, my excitement to pursue new activities was often greater than my athleticism. Through perseverance, I learned to bridge the gap between interest and ability, like joining the swim team without knowing how to swim. In adulthood, I found my passion for movement in martial arts, strength training, and calisthenics. My experiences with injuries taught me that I needed more than just hard work. I needed to work smart as well. The importance of mastering a strong biomechanics foundation, flexibility, motor learning, and the science of practice are key in getting exceptional results. To this day, my passion for movement enables me to explore the world through martial arts, lifting, hiking, camping, and travelling to remote and unique places.

  • The Quest for Knowledge

To learn more about the inner workings of the human body, I pursued a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. Afterwards, I worked as a personal trainer for 7 years with the intention of helping individuals find their movement passions and reach their health and fitness goals. I had the opportunity to mentor with experienced strength coaches, work with semi- professional and recreational athletes, and do some teaching for new personal trainers as well. During this time, I enjoyed working alongside many physiotherapists and admired the way they were able to combine manual therapy, multiple treatment modalities and masterful exercise prescription to help get people back to doing what they love. This motivated me to pursue my master’s degree in Physiotherapy at McMaster University.

  • The Mission

My physiotherapy approach is guided by each individual’s unique needs and goals. Firstly, we will discover what is important to you, and what stage you are at in your rehabilitation. Together, we will create a roadmap of how we can get to you to where you would like to be. Informed by current scientific literature, we will explore a combination of strength training complimented by hands-on manual therapy and education to ensure you feel empowered as I guide you through every step of the journey. I look forward to working together and learning lots along the way!
